NEEDY

I don't feel lonely
sometimes just Need the company
the company to accompany the silence
interrupt the violence plaguing in my mind
Need to hear another breath besides mine breathing rhymes
Need to see the touch of hands
Need to feel the site of another human wanting to survive life in order to live again
even though we're barely breathing
Need life to want to live
Need to give life to a rib that isn't my own
yet I roam with a depleting heart
could barely feel me bleeding half to death
because flesh is Needing to rest in a nest that is not my home
Need to be alone in the company of thoughts in search of shalom
Need space within my space to allow dreams and visions to grow
destiny to show denial that favor and promise overflows
Need to know if these lines are simply rhymes that are entertaining current state of minds
or are minds enlightened as I state these rhythmic lines
Need to know that I am not wasting time
your's or mine
Need light to shine
Need songs and cries
Need love that doesn't lie
Need hate to die...

but if it is
that I stood here
for you to hear
3 minutes of me
to Need you to BE
I Need you to stop
stop Needing me to be your mouthpiece
your heartbeat
your tapping feet
your clapping hand
your minstrel dance
I Need you to stand and speak
"The Word. The Truth. The Need!"

#JUSTUS4TRAYVON

Poem Dedicated to Trayvon Benjamin Martin ® Dasha Saintremy

The Verdict is in...

And I can't pretend that I'm not shock as well as heartbroken from another gavel that seems to pound on our legacy of our lost identities
Another black tragedy is taken lightly as if we still cease to exist in the midst of those who got us here and I am fully aware of the unfair systematic system
But for once I was just wishing that it would be JUST and live up to the motto in God we Trust
Yet the judgment we sought wasn't the judgement we fought for... so where is the  justice for us.
I'm convinced that the defense had to buy into a lie just to get a piece of a pie that was already sliced for them. When will we Win?

The Verdict is in...

And there are many feelings that overwhelm this nation today...
On how a black boy can't even walk the streets too late...
On how a hoody translates to a gangsta/ hood life display...
On how skittle and ice tea is a weapon that would lead to our demise...
Let us not be weary... Let us be wise...
That riot and looting, fires and shooting will not bring back the life of Trayvon Benjamin Martin.

The Verdict is in...

And If i could have the view from the bench
where I can see into the eyes of 6 women
Allowing a guilty  man free
Perpetuating modern day lynch spree
Making the statement that its ok to stand your ground if your life is threaten by some skittles and some ice tea
I would simply hang up my robe, give up my seat, join in the protest that the system was not meant for me...
As for his verdict... Let him go free, understanding that true freedom is from the Almighty.

The Verdict is in...

Wrestling with feelings of what should we do and what can be done... We search for meaning to justify this one, we find more reason why we have yet overcome and we march towards Justice... Justus... Just Us, until victory is won!

IN THE CIRCLE OF LIFE

a woman is at the center
stretching her arm long and wide
to embrace all that she has carried and birth
her bosoms are filled with nourishment
that will last for centuries
over ten generational offspring
who may never know her name
the air that she once breathed
now fills their lungs as they inhale the gas whisper… SURVIVE!
It's no mystery to them
why they must
why they have
and the only uncertainty
is that they will
Exhale…
her struggles are the stairways towards heaven
her strife is of her unspoken glory
her story must be told
if there is anything lost that can be found
on her existence would be
her sweat, her tears
which flourished the circle of life

little girl sips

Little girl sits in a chair next to a teacup that she will sip and tell story
Of make believe on how she believes that she will be a princess
And her prince will sweep her away on a chariot as they ride into the sunset
Of happily ever after
And her childhood laughter is matured into the adolescent teen who slips into her mother’s close to appear much older then she really is only to capture the attention of a boy who may never notice her
Stuffing paper ball in her bra to arouse the playful balls in his pants
Not knowing now what she will later know then that he’s not trying to be her boyfriend
He just wants the bragging rights that he was the first to make it in
As he expose her promiscuity to the entire school who lied about losing their virginity

She grows up to ignore the rumors of her being a whore a slut a bitch that would put her lips on any stick that grows longer then 6 inches and some of you are twitching because you are uncomfortable to here the truth about this girl but truth is you still crave to hear more, because you can relate to her
So here she is at 22, college bound but still does not know what she wants to do with her life
So she drops out attempting to be someone’s wife, bare some kids only to find herself at a dinning table sipping on some tea at 33 believing she could never be what she once dreamed
The princess waiting for her prince to come sweep her away into the sunset on a chariot

A Poem For You

Notbecause you’ve asked me to
Butbecause my heart deems to want to express
Aburden that it has compress in order to feel safe again
AndI am not upset that it’s kept itself this way
Formany has left it bleeding and beating to beats of hurt & pain
Yetlately, I find my heart healing with you
Notfor what you do, but for what is said between us two
Wecircle around ideas of what can be
Byspeaking of what was and what is
Asif, possibilities of us no longer exist
Itoo am not quite sure, so my uncertainties lead me to my knees
Insearch for clarity of Dreams
Dreamsof you coming home to me from a journey of work that kept us apart for weeks
AndI prepared every second of every minute and every minute of every hour that wewould share before you would have to leave again
Ilong to smell the breath of each word you speak and could really careless if itbrought meaning to our existence
Andthen I woke up, choked up questioning, though it was all a dream….
SometimeI convince myself to believe that I wished to have never met you
Andalso wish to have never continued to keep contact
witha past love that did not love like I love for I was in love
ormaybe in bliss, whatever it was or it is
Tofind us here again, yearning for a kiss, but cannot touch
Refusingto be hugged
Opposingto love, loving me in the same degree
Yesindeed, you have changed, but this man that speaks before me
Oncespoke in the same breath love & deceit
Wonderingif you are capable of these things
Yearshave passed and people do change
yetmy heart still remains the same…
Bleedingfrom the hurt, hurting from the pain
YetI , I still love you and will love you again!

A Slice, A Pie (T&D Signature Wedding Poem)

HE COMPLETES HER THOUGHTS
SHE FINISHES HIS LINES
THEY CREATE WORDS THAT HAVE YET TO BE DEFINE
IN A RYHME WRITTEN BY THE TWO
YOU’LL FIND HUES OF DARK BLUE
DESCRIBING LOVE THEY ONCE KNEW
LOVE THAT USE TO
LOVE THAT COULDN’T DO, WHAT THEY NOW DO FOR EACH OTHER
MORE THEN JUST LOVERS BUT FRIENDS
BEGINNING THEIR JOURNEY AT SLICE
NOT KNOWING THAT THEY WOULD ONEDAY, SOMEDAY, THIS DAY;
BECOME A WHOLE PIE
AND THEY BOTH TOOK A BITE OF THE BAIT
THAT WAS SERVED TO THEM ON THAT DAY
YEAH HE PLAYED IT COOL BROTHER, JUST LIKE A SMOOTH BROTHER
FOR HE KNEW SHE WAS A SOUL SISTUH, NOT LIKE ANY OTHER SISTUH,
WHOM HE WAS SECRETLY WISHING TO KISS HER
AS SHE TOO WANTED TO HOLD HIS HAND TO CO
NNECT WITH THIS MAN
BUT THE GOD IN THEM WOULD NOT ALLOW THEIR FLESH TO SPEAK
SO THEY WROTE MEMOIRS IN POETIC FORM TO EXPRESS WHAT WAS EVIDENT
STILL QUESTIONING IF THIS WAS MEANT TO BE
SHE WRESTLED IN HER HEAD, IF A SINGLE MAN SPEAKING GOD’S TRUTH WITH SUCH AUTHORITY TURNS ME ON… IS IT WRONG?
HE QUESTION IF HIS HEART HAD TRADED PLACES WITH HIS EYES,
FOR THE BEAUTY OF THE SUN HE GAZED INTO HAS SOME HOW LIGHTEN UP
HIS ENTIRE INSIDES.
AND THEN THERE WAS YOU, I AND U, SLICING UP PIES TO A LOVE JONES GROOVE WITH A GOLDEN TOUUCH, NOT KNOWING WHEN UNKNOWN TEARS DRIED UP FROM THE SWEAT THAT WAS LEFT…

Her skillful use of wordplay convince him that she just may be one of a kind… And his ability to respond with his mind and not yet another line made her won’t to give him the time of day, so she slipped him her business card as he played hard by not sweating Ms. Sweat and instead decided to write her a rhyme…
“The heat is on because the time is now. The time is now to cool the thoughts about loneliness and welcome the flame that will help to set off the true love and passion of unity between the two in a consummation that will eliminate the dark blues to purple and red hues… turn up that old gospel tune… for there’s about to be a revival. No need to wonder can we-have a real kinda love?
A sincere and much more than sexual appeal kinda love?
A God-fearing, obeying, only Holy Spirit led, living and giving kinda love?
God as the Head and not the tail...
leading us together so neither one of us fail kinda love. For God is love and He loved us so much that He gave us each other... Therefore what God has put together, let not man, [woman, or thing] put asunder” ~Mark 10:9

Dime Piece

You have disappointed me
Truly... Gravely...
As quick as a drop of a dime
You sold me for gold
Forsaking the new for the old
I told you to wait patiently
but you decided to go off on your own
Convinced that time could no longer bridge the pieces back
Pieces that were shattered and would never be made whole
Words and rhymes could no longer serve as peace or comforter
My dime
Understand the speech
Accent discrete
Language a tweet to condense
A complex thought which remains obsolete
I am a piece that was created to bring peace while exposing a piece of me
The words I teach
To the spiritually weak
Religiously blind
Consciously confused
And demonic minds
See you were my dime
U were the reason I turned water into wine
I wanted to celebrate you
Toast you to the few that made it through
I walk on water to get to you
To get you to believe that fear can't cripple you
Faith must draw you back to sea, back to me
Back to land on your feet
You were that piece that would give me some peace
while showing others a piece of me
Like an instrument
My fingers strung every keys to your existence
And even when you missed a note, or out of tune from a bad stroke
I'd take the time to restore you to my perfect piece as you played and plead from your knees
77 times me I would trade in your
ordinary stories of sins
For extraordinary glories
On how u made it in
See you were more then just a thought which I spoke that brought life by the drop of the first word heard and echoed throughout the earth
I've  allowed you to exist so that u can share the gift of peace by sharing a piece of me
Dime piece
You were my ears and eyes
make souls laugh and cry
cause minds to shift when they come to
the knowledge of the truth
no lies or gimmicks
No tricks or treats
Simply tell them about me
Through your testimony
How you disappointed me
Truly... Gravely...
Still considered you as the dime I prized
The dime I gave my life
In order to give life in hopes that all recognize
For who and why I was bruise
All things were made new
No longer lay in a tomb
I'm alive
Even in this piece
You are sharing
To bring peace
While exposing a piece of me

PEACE

Accountability

Whatever it takes to break free... Get some accountability!

Between you and I
I don't know why my eyes wouldn't dry
When I heard the news that for a moment u died
For a moment you lied
In your sin you believed wouldn't beset you again
It did
This time you can't get rid of the aftermath of yours acts
I take that back, you can
But double would be the death if you would convince yourself to such crime
When I heard you died
For a moment
It forced me to examine my life
Realize that I too was dead
And even though I would want to revive you
Instead I allowed your momentary death to consume me
Where was I
Why not me
It seems I would always make it out cheating
With both eyes open
Hoping no one will see me decaying to the bones
Picking the skeletons out my closet the moment I have gone to a place of no return
So far out that I no longer know home
Where I belong
So I roam for a moment in death
Running for help outside myself
Before I finally get caught up in myself
To catch my breath
Step outside of my flesh
So that my spirit can rest
The moment you were able to speak that sin had held you captive was the moment you were set free And that liberated me
Because I haven't been able to get into my account and cash in on the check deposited
by the carbon copy me
I am a counterfit
Believing no one could really see
When clearly I had a special fund for my fun
Where I can run and momentarily lie
Momentary die and be content in my sin
So now I am withdrawing myself from this equation before I fail
And pray that the repentence of my momentary death will keep me from a permanent hell

Where did love go?
Some say you can find it in the path of a bayou
Where the sun and moon finally decide to meet
Like an eclipse
For a kiss at the bay that reflects in a wave
That there is life that exist

Some say you can catch a glimpse of it
On stage
Not where actors play, but where colors are displayed, merge to recreate, shaded and faded in order to capture a moment in time that was inspired by a beautiful mind

Or maybe one can find it in a
Rhyme were words gets to dance on a page and speak to eyes that will communicate to the wisdom and soul within the members of our bodies

But the reality is many find it in a grave when days have dissipated and yesterday can't be replayed tomorrow is an unsure thing and today is the only present given to us to simply say,
I Love You...

love, lust, like

i am sorry to have left you wondering or questioning if i love love

i know i've spoken words that opposed love

i often found love or what i thought was love

rather feenin "lust" or simply "like"

i love the existence of all three combine

yet they never shared the heart, flesh and mind equally

in fact they all resided in different vacancies

lust resided in the flesh where the fagrance from your chest

drew me to think of how you would do me then leave me for another

but i'ld be careless if i was just your lover

for one night was fine for me to get what i needed from you in that present time

this time lust travel to the vacancy of where like resided in my mind

i had to adjust the view of this once vacant vacancy

see there has been many who ran through my mind

stayed a little while to find i had no room for two

as tenants they were subject to change the hue of the room

so that it could look like the heart, where love laid

a part from the two lady L's

preferring to be alone then jeorpardize this upscale hotel

with vip status

GOD GIVEN GIFT

PLEASE STAY TUNE... I HAVE GONE BACK TO WRITING MORE CONSISTENTLY, AND READING MORE FREQUENTLY. THERE ARE SOME PERSONAL PIECES THAT I LOVE TO SHARE WITH YOU ALL, BECAUSE I FEEL YOU WILL BE ABLE TO RELATE AND PRAYERFULLY BE BLESSED BY.

ALSO I HAVE WRITTEN A LOT OF POEMS FOR PEOPLE IN THE PAST AND MY MISSION IS TO RETRIEVE THEM ONE WAY OR THE OTHER SO THAT I CAN POST TO THIS BLOG WITH PICS, AND THEY CAN ALWAYS COME BACK AND REFLECT ON THIS PIECE AS WELL AS SHARE WITH OTHERS.

ONE MORE THING, I WOULD ALSO LIKE TO STATE THAT POETRY IS MORE THEN JUST A TALENT FOR ME, IT IS A DIVINE GIFT GIVEN BY THE GREATEST GIVER, WHO IS GOD, AND I MUST SHARE THIS GIFT WITH OTHERS SO THEY TOO CAN BE BLESS AND HOPEFULLY BE MOTIVATED TO SHARE THEIR GOD GIVEN GIFT!

PEACE & LOVE,

Great Is Your Mercy Towards Me

Ever sit back and ponder on where you were and where you are in your lifetime?
Do you say to yourself how in the world did I make it here?
Rather your perspective of your current situation is negative or positive, the fact remains that you made it to the very point in time that you are sitting and able to reflect. You are still in existence. Why, you may question? Well, because of purpose! For purpose is the only reason why we came from heaven, and when we have fulfilled that purpose this is when are time have come to meet our maker.
Understand that some are destined to fulfill the set purpose, but in the journey to our destiny, we are faced with set backs, trials, tribulations, life circumstances that yields us in making a decision that may redirect us towards our purpose, or continue in the set path that has been set.
Now, as you sit back, think of what your purpose in life is. Once you've determined what it is, write it down and make it plain (legible or clear). This way you can always revisit it as a reminder what path you should be on. For if you are just running with no destination, then you are simply exhausting yourself for no reason!

Peace & Blessings!

My Love's Story

To my friends and family, I am sorry I did not inform you all sooner, but everything seems to be happening since I've return to Miami. First, as some may already know, I fell in love all over again. This time it's the real thing. I mean He's always been in my life, but it was always hard for me to commit. You may ask why this time? Well, He simply smiled at me, and I figured He stuck beside me all this time why not. I mean we've been through some hard times, especially when I went off to school. When I left, I told him that I was doing my own thing. I even told Him that I no longer believed in Him. We didn't talk for a while, but He would often send his peeps to check on me just to see how I was doing. He later told me that He wanted to make sure that I did not get myself in a mess that I could not get myself out of. I really thought He was completely out of my life. And I was okay with that, at least I thought I was. Until, I ran into Him a couple years back. We played catch up! Or should I say, I played catch up, because it was clear that He knew everything that was going on with me. We laughed, we cried, and then He said those three words to me... I MISS YOU! And I knew Him missing me meant the same as Him Loving Me. And to be honest I Loved Him too, and I knew that He wanted all of me, but I was in a relationship at the time that I knew He would not go for. He demanded for me to direct dude to the door. I tried, but it did not work! And He simply asked me, "Am I not worth your undivided love?" Of course He was, but this was such bad timing, at least for me. There I was with a man, whom I thought that I was in love with, and here before me was the one I could not live without. I had a decision to make, and He actually waited… patiently. Even when my relationship came to an end, and I picked up a couple more male friends, but none ever seemed to work out. So I gave up, saying I rather just live without. And He felt me, He knew exactly how I was feeling, but to another degree. He told me that this was the exact same way He felt about me. See, I realized that He was never going to give up on We, because what We had was unconditional. And if He could not have Our Love, than I would gets No Love. He wanted to be the first to share the moment of true intimacy and passion, which can only be experienced through True Love. He wanted to teach me how to truly be in love. See, since being with Him, I have learned that I have never truly been in love until now. I can now tell the world what it means to love and love back. I am talking about that agape love, that unconditional love, that godly love, that one love that would never, and could never be compared to any other love. Not from your mother, not from your father, not from your sister, not from your bother. This is a love shared only from Thee One who gave love unselfishly by laying down His life as a living sacrifice on Calvary. So on this day I am officially stating that I am married to a Man, unlike any earthly man, who displayed his love by shedding He's blood for me, so that We can be together in eternity. DON'T keep this to yourself… SPREAD THE GOOD NEWS!

JC's Beats

In a small book entitled Jesus and the Hip Hop Prophets, I read that the language of this generation has transformed so much, and the only means of reaching this new generation is by acquiring that language. Hip-Hop is the language of the 21st century, and many youth are drawn by rap R&B artist who have the phattest beats or the ride-out hooks. The music is good, yet the message is perverted. Often time this reality of the same for the messenger. Youth's are looking up to these individual as famous idols for the truth and to shed some light on their life. Yet this message that they relay maybe a worldly truth, it is not the truth of God given by the word.
"Jesus doesn't have weak beats. When he drops a beat or freestyles, our hearts hit heights we never knew existed. Jesus wants to be seen and he wants to be heard, and he wants to invite us into his inner circle." For some people that inner circle may be in a hip-hop community where music and rhymes exist, for others it may be in a literary community where books with words exist, and for some it may even be in an artistry community where painting and images exist. Whatever that inner circle is where the language of your heart speaks and God is being praise we must respond to it and worship him with our gifting. This how we let our creator know that we are appreciative. Lauryn Hill said it best, "That's what praising God is all about—fulfilling…doing your passion!"
Gospel artist J Moss sings a message stating no matter who or what we are we must praise. Rather it be through writing, running, singing, dancing, speaking, mentoring we must bless and exalt the Lord with are gifting. As a believer, we worship God in everything all that we do, in spirit and in truth. "Though it may seem pity to us, God is sitting back smiling at us as He is being glorified. The smile of God is the goal of our life" (Quote taken from The Purpose Driven Life). His smiling is his approval!
For me poetry is my grace gift, my tool for worship and praise, my charisma that draws others to me, and in return I can be used to draw them to the one who sent to shed his blood on Calvary. So that all can be saved!

Settle

My sentiments remains the same
No ones to blame
My shame is that I will probably try it again
Until I reach the one I pray is seeking after me
In the meantime I am writing short stories with those who never even read a book before
But I entertain because I'm bored
The irony of it all... Still not satisfied
But it will never change until i meet the one who I pray is seeking after me, and until then I will probably be teaching others how to read me
Though they may never comprehend
I'ld settle for the attempt, and hopes that maybe then they would take an interest in learning on their own
Rather being fed grown in a sippy cup full of love
It is meant to be indulged like a book that you can't seem to put down
Or that flavored ice cream that lifts ones frown
And even the one song that u allow to shuffle on its own
Can't stand repeat, because the pause in between is way too long
I've been wrong for placing any expectation on anyone
So allow me to just grab an edwidge book, fix me a bowl of cookies and creams ice cream and let lauren and d'angelo sing the hook of nothing even matters to me as I wait patiently for the one who I believe is doing the same thing... Seeking to indulge in love

Giving Thanks (2008 Good Friday Message)

This day, more like any other day we take a moment to reflect on its goodness. And what makes this day so good that a man, not like any earthly man, had to be beaten, bruised, defiled, degraded, denied 3x's and then crucified for our iniquities and our transgressions. The greatest debt was paid on this day, and it was purchase with his blood. It was thee ultimate sacrifice when God sent His only begotten Son to be slain for our sins.

And we seat comfortably, we sleep peacefully, we walk gracefully, we breath freely at no cost to us. We are not worthy of all the goodness given to us daily. "Praise be to God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in heavenly realms with every spiritual blessings in Christ… For He chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight" (Ephesians 1:3-4). How loving is our God that despite ourselves, He already saw us and in us, way before we were born, that He made provision (in other words arrangement) to ensure our key to eternity. If not for Jesus, if not for His blood, if not for His death, if not for His resurrection, if not for His life we would not be here today absorbing in His grace and His mercy.

So on this day, a good day, a Good Friday, reflect on all the goodness of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ who was and still is the greatest believer, the greatest healer, the greatest provider, the greatest deliverer, the greatest teacher, the greatest preacher, the greatest father, the greatest carpenter, the greatest man, the greatest friend. Yet, He became the greatest hero and humanitarian when He paid the greatest price by laying down His life just to save our souls. And we can go on and on about His greatness, but it is sufficient enough to say "He's been Good."I bid peace & blessings to all on this day!

Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever.
1Chronicles 16:30

Mwen Songez

I remember those days back in Little Haiti
Everyone was happy
Great big family
Mommy worked and her little cousin Vivi
Took care of me and Shelly
I often called her mommy
Daddy seemed to always be so busy
In and out of Ayiti
Would bring back some sweet-sweets
Usually it was from one of my grannies
Showing that they love me by adding to my cavities
The family moved to North Miami
Away from the south beach, closer to my aunties
Finally, we moved into our own home suite
Big pool and mango tree on 193rd Street
Turned 18 and moved away from the whole scene
Reflecting on what has brought me to succeed academically
Socially I gained much popularity
Yet it never fulfilled me like the love from my family
I remember those days!
