#JUSTUS4TRAYVON

Poem Dedicated to Trayvon Benjamin Martin ® Dasha Saintremy

The Verdict is in...

And I can't pretend that I'm not shock as well as heartbroken from another gavel that seems to pound on our legacy of our lost identities
Another black tragedy is taken lightly as if we still cease to exist in the midst of those who got us here and I am fully aware of the unfair systematic system
But for once I was just wishing that it would be JUST and live up to the motto in God we Trust
Yet the judgment we sought wasn't the judgement we fought for... so where is the  justice for us.
I'm convinced that the defense had to buy into a lie just to get a piece of a pie that was already sliced for them. When will we Win?

The Verdict is in...

And there are many feelings that overwhelm this nation today...
On how a black boy can't even walk the streets too late...
On how a hoody translates to a gangsta/ hood life display...
On how skittle and ice tea is a weapon that would lead to our demise...
Let us not be weary... Let us be wise...
That riot and looting, fires and shooting will not bring back the life of Trayvon Benjamin Martin.

The Verdict is in...

And If i could have the view from the bench
where I can see into the eyes of 6 women
Allowing a guilty  man free
Perpetuating modern day lynch spree
Making the statement that its ok to stand your ground if your life is threaten by some skittles and some ice tea
I would simply hang up my robe, give up my seat, join in the protest that the system was not meant for me...
As for his verdict... Let him go free, understanding that true freedom is from the Almighty.

The Verdict is in...

Wrestling with feelings of what should we do and what can be done... We search for meaning to justify this one, we find more reason why we have yet overcome and we march towards Justice... Justus... Just Us, until victory is won!
